Next Future
Humans and artificial intelligence
In 2023, ChatGPT has just been made public. Artificial intelligence (AI) is suddenly a hot topic. Some insist on the tremendous improvements it will bring, while others warn of the major threats it represents. It's also a subject that has found favour with the general public over the last few years, and which has given rise to some outstanding films (Her, Ex Machina, etc.) or inspired cult series (Black Mirror, Westworld).

Everyone agrees that a genuine technological and civilisational revolution is underway. How do we address this issue? How do we talk about it in our society?

Our answer is Next Future.

Our next project : Replica
Somewhere in Belgium, in the next future. Travis, a powerful AI computer, intervenes to help Evy, a young girl who is locked up in the basement of a laboratory specialising in genetic optimisation, where she is the subject of secret experiments. Will he succeed in freeing her from her prison?

Replica is the first episode of next future, a short film that takes the classic "homo versus machine" paradigm and turns it upside down. We find ourselves in a world where scientists, often supported by industry and politicians, are increasingly willing to risk overstepping ethical boundaries in the name of progress and innovation. In this case, it is the AI that is defending moral values against humans, in order to restore to their victims, if not to them, their share of humanity. Replica tackles eugenics through AI as a shield against human insanity.
