Automata is a feature-length documentary exploring the relationship between human creativity, mechanical intelligence and contemporary artificial intelligence.

The film follows the work of Swiss automaton-maker François Junod, whose handcrafted mechanical figures question our fascination with artificial life, precision and illusion.

Through encounters, observations and reflections, Automata confronts traditional craftsmanship with today’s generative technologies, raising broader questions about authorship, creativity and the future of human agency.​
