The short film was created at the request of the European Parliament to serve as an introduction to a debate organized by STOA (Panel for the Future of Science and Technology) on the image of AI and the role of art in this context. The film had its official premiere at the European Parliament on November 14, 2022. The purpose of 'The Best Option' is to stimulate discussions on AI and deepen reflection on its social and political challenges.

What if tomorrow you had the choice to wake up enhanced? With The Best Option, Serge Goriely questions the complex relationship between human beings and artificial intelligence, the opportunities it offers and the dangers it poses. Artificial intelligence is among the most debated issues of our time. It manifests itself at all levels of life in society and even beyond, since it is one of the signature issues of the transhumanist movement, which purports to rethink the very nature of what is human. It is a mysterious phenomenon, both unavoidable and difficult to control. As such, it is a topical subject which is a no brainer for adaptation to the cinema, one so charged it requires the medium rethink its very language.
