About the film
Ronde is a music film based on Maurice Ravel’s choral piece from Trois chansons, performed by the vocal quartet Les 4 Sens.
Built around a repeated warning not to enter the mysterious woods of Ormonde, Ravel’s song summons an exuberant world of satyrs, nymphs, sorcerers and fantastic creatures — only to reveal, in its final reversal, that they have all been frightened away.
Rather than illustrating the text literally, the film explores its interplay of authority, fantasy, playfulness and disappearance through reflections, shifting perspectives and the physical presence of the four singers.
Les 4 Sens
Les 4 Sens is a Belgian vocal quartet formed in 2024 at Arts2 (Conservatoire royal de Mons).
Shortly after their formation, they received the highest distinction in chamber music and were selected to represent the conservatory in concert. In December 2024, they won Génération classique, a competition organised by the Festivals de Wallonie, leading to a series of performances in 2025.
The quartet brings together:
-
Hanna Al-Bender — soprano
-
Violette Schloesing — mezzo-soprano
-
Ruben Goriely — tenor
-
Samuel Desguin — baritone
